sorry to be autistic about this post but they literally solve this dilemma in the show because U only get a cutie mark during a life defining moment where U discover your true passion and also cutie marks mainly Represent more abstract passions not jobs. like pinkie pies is balloons not because she’s gonna become a balloon maker but because her life’s mission to to bring joy to other people and she does that through her parties. so even if pinkie Decided to do something else with her life her defining trait is still bringing joy to other people and her cutie mark wouldn’t change. like the cutie marks Are very personal and are specific to the individual because it’s pony magic… Also destiny is real in the show anyway and U get a cutie mark at the point U begin to fulfill your destiny (like twilight got hers when she got into magic school) so like moot point. I don’t play about those talking horses.

In olden times, people had daily chores and other things to do but their workload/ daily working hours was actually much lower than it is today. Even in farming communities.
The concept of working super hard every day actually comes from capitalism, which in turn comes from Puritanical ideology.
The Puritans believed in salvation through work and in no play.
Early capitalists adopted this ideology because it meant higher productivity and therefore more money if their factories were running near constantly.
The idea of needing to be continuously productive in order to be useful/ allowed things like food and shelter, is actually quite an insidious ideal that is deeply rooted in the American culture.
4 day work weeks have actually proven to be more productive than the 5 day week. But corporations won't adopt it willingly because it means less of a stranglehold on their workers.

like. there's a weird misconception that it's old people, but i have never once had an issue with anyone over the age of, like, 55. they are fine with me muttering to myself or making weird faces or not hearing them the first five times they call my name. that's not a problem for them. when my brother goes out with a cane, they're the ones who compliment it, and tell him the spikes and ribbons are a cute addition.
yesterday this pink haired girl in the bathroom told me that i needed to stay away from movie theaters if i was going to act like a schizo. ten minutes later an 80 year old woman complimented me on my bright red hearing aids and said she wished she had that confidence when she got hers.
